Research Activities

My research focus during my PhD has been how preterm birth and other factors alter maternal breast milk innate immune composition including leukocyte subsets, antimicrobial and immune-modulating proteins, and investigating how specific antimicrobial proteins and peptides in breast milk protect against late-onset neonatal sepsis, a common infection in preterm infants.
